1. 表示“考虑”，其后可接名词、动名词或从句作宾语（consider用在主动句子中不能接不定式作宾语；在被动句子中可以后接动词不定式的各种时态或语态）。如：

Please consider my suggestion. 请考虑我的建议。

2. consider sb (to be / as)… 认为／觉得某人……

； “把……看作”，比较以下同义句型：

我们认为他是天才。

正：We consider him (as) a genus.

正：We consider him (to be) a genus.

正：We consider that he is a genus.

后接不定式的复合结构作宾语时，其不定式通常为 to be，即consider sb/sth to be…。如：

Do you consider that to be important? 你认为这重要吗？

You shouldn’t consider him to be a selfish man. 你不应当认为他是一个自私的人。
