一、thank you for 意思是“谢谢”。对已经做的某事表示感谢用for引导出来。例如：
She said goodbye and thanked us for coming. 她向我们道别，并感谢我们的光临。
Thank you for your kindness to me. 感谢你对我的体贴。
Thank you for showing me the path. 谢谢你为我指路。
二、thank you to 意思是“求你、劳驾”。to后面接动词，表示对未发生的事表示感谢。如果是I'll thank you to do sth.的话，则带有埋怨的口吻。例如：
I thank you to lend me that dictionary. 请你把那本字典借给我。
——试比较：I thank you for lending me that dictionary.谢谢你把那本字典借给了我。
I thank you to be quiet while I'm speaking.我在讲话时，求你们安静点。
I thank you to leave me alone. 求你让我单独呆会儿。
I thank you not to follow me. 求你不要跟着我。
